i have a new annoyance, and it's called "murlocs". damn stupid creatures..

anyway, so much for broadband here in malaysia. all i get every day is red light warning me about the high latency.

crap..

on holiday till thursday. nothing much to do. i'm in azeroth most of the time. either that, or i'm inside my room sleepin.

almost depressed, but everytime i step into the world of azeroth, i'm fine. yes.. i'm addicted. hahaha..

will update soon. currently updating the graphic card's driver. 40megs is so slow to download here compared to the office (took me about 1 minute to download at the office)...

Spider-Man 3 : An Advance Review

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!!

it's not everyday i get to go to press and partners' advance screening of a huge Hollywood movie. but that's what happened yesterday. me and loco was invited to the advance screening for the sure hit Spider-Man 3.

the pre-screening event was great. lotsa free food and free drinks. the mocktail was awesome. too bad i missed the cheerleading part. hehehe.

Joey G was the MC for the nite. awesome chap.

after a few minutes delay, me and loco got up to the stage to perform the single from the upcoming SumoLah movie, VVIP. superb responses from the crowd. considering that was the very first time they are listening to the song, most of them danced and bopped their heads to the song. very cultured attendees. props to you guys. thanks to Buena Vista for having us there, thanks to the press ppl who took our pictures.

now, 9.30pm. everybody was ushered into the cinema. 10 minutes later, the movie started. seriously i do not have any expectations for this movie.

yes, i'm a huge Spider-Man comic book fan. the overall tone of the movie is pride and jealousy. spidey's pride for being a superhero, MJ's jealousy over spidey's success, Harry's jealousy and pride over Peter, Eddie Brock's hatred and Flint Marko's quest for redemption. it suits the "movie" part of the movie, but it fails me as a comic book fan.


by far this movie displays the most and the widest spectrum of character development. each character has it's own back story and it was not overly done. the movie clocks in at 2 hours 23 minutes, but no scene feels like a drag. so this is a good plus point for the movie. what i like the most was the effects. almost nothing appear as if it was created by CGI. even Sandman's transformation to sand back and forth appear natural and icky. which is great.


being the last of the trilogy, this movie serves it's purpose to tie up loose knots and leave some open for spin offs and side stories. very commendable job by the writer team. so, nothing much has been spoiled here, i think i have put in everything that everyone needs to know. oh yeah, Venom was the best kept secret for this movie. keep that note when watching the movie and you will see what i mean. and do keep an eye for Bruce Campbell. hail to the king!~

i give Spider-Man 3 a 4 out of 5 star. it was a great experience, but somehow it's lacking some comic appeal to it. it's more real now, yes. credit to Sam Raimi for doin a great job displaying the human side of the movie. and i dun think many comic book followers will like it. but it's just us (comic book fan). it's a great start to the summer. just go out and watch as many movies that you can. can't wait for the next one.

• amat overwhelmed dgr finished product lagu VVIP. lagu yg dah masuk kali ke 3 direkodkan. dah ada 4 different version. amazing. props to Pacai and Afdlin.
• seronok buat podcast, so the next one (episode 2) will be up this weekend.
• Project G sedang giat berlangsung.. watch this space for announcement in the near future.
• more cool audio tools berjaya di procure. more cool tunes coming.
• more cool inspiration gained. i think i got a million verse in my head now. now where's the paper?!

i think i died in an accident, coz this must be heaven..

ok..so finally i'm back in the office.

took one of my annual leave yesterday.. that leaves me with 13 more days(!!) of unused leaves. i dun even know what to do with it.

anyway the weekend was fun. as you guys know it started early on friday with "Jangan Pandang Belakang" movie after work. saturday it was chillin day as i was cheering for ferrari at home during the F1 qualifying. the nite was spent cheering for the army of Rafa who won against Reading. but i think i cheered louder when i knew that West Ham beat Arse-anal. hahaha!!~

and i've watched the most expensive own goal for this season. very expensive. that goal cost ManUtd the game and some 30 million pounds. hahaha..!~

so sunday i woke up early. went to Subang's Tournament Center for some magic action. with just a deck taken off from the net, i only managed to win 2 games out of 6. bodo..

i was stressed out even more when i found out that ferrari only managed to finished 3rd for the raceday..

fuck it.. by that time there's only one more thing to look forward to.. Kanye West's concert in Stadium Negara..

we arrived there damn early. it was fun to see and meet a lot of known faces here and there. it's like a gathering of some sort.

for once, the complete line up of The Gambeats was there to see 2-time Grammy winner live in our town..

i'm so lost for words.. it was surreal. out of this world..

Jangan Pandang Belakang : The Review

first time aku tgk trailer "Jangan Pandang Belakang" masa screening "Cinta" tahun lepas, aku mmg dah set akan tgk movie ni bila dia kuar nanti. Bagi aku, jarang ada trailer yg boleh menyeramkan aku especially trailer movie melayu.

so bila citer ni open je Khamis lepas, aku terus bagitau kawan2 aku yg aku nak tgk citer ni. And semalam lepas keja, aku dengan bangganya bole katakan yg aku dah berjaya tgk citer melayu paling seram setelah sekian lama tak der citer hantu.

sepanjang masa aku tgk citer ni, aku based kan review aku dengan filem2 dari thailand (Long Khong, The Dorm) dan Jepun (The Ring, Dark Water).

ternyata pujian harus diberikan pada Pierre Andre untuk skrip dia yg amat menarik. it was well researched and well documented. tahap penceritaan yg amat simple (agak terlalu simple, meninggalkan sket plotholes dalam citer tu) mmg teknik yg bagus untuk menceritakan satu pengalaman yg ngeri.

arahan Ahmad Idham pun nampak matang. walaupun ni baru movie dia yg no 2, aku tabik kat dia nih. dan tak syak lagi dia merupakan salah sorang pelapis pengarah2 filem malaysia yg perlu diberikan peluang lagi in the future.

setting cerita ni simple. mari kita baca sinopsis rasmi yg ada kat website Metrowealth.

Kisah misteri yang cukup menyeramkan ini mengisahkan seorang pemuda bernama Darma (Pierre Andre) yang cuba mencari kepastian tentang sebab kematian tunangnya, Rose (Intan Ladyana). Rose telah didapati mati tanpa diketahui punca sebenar. Darma bersama adik kembar Rose bernama Seri (juga lakonan Intan Ladyana) yang cukup mengenali keperibadian Rose cuba mencari jawapannya. Rose yang mereka kenali adalah seorang periang dan ceria.

Mereka telah pergi ke rumah Rose untuk memulakan siasatan dan di sana Darma telah menemui sebiji botol. Darma mengambilnya dan dibawa pulang. Darma dan Seri mengesyaki sesuatu perkara yang pelik dan aneh berlaku di sebalik kematian Rose. Ramalan mereka dikukuhkan dengan beberapa perkara yang berlaku dan ditemui termasuk pada kamera digital Rose yang mereka temui.
Selepas itu, hidup Darma tidak lagi tenteram. Setiap hari dia diganggu oleh ‘sesuatu’ dengan gangguan yang amat dahsyat. Pelbagai peristiwa pelik dan menyeramkan berlaku ke atas Darma. Hidup Darma berubah kepada seorang yang tidak terurus dan menjejaskan prestasi kerjanya.

Mendengar nasihat Da'im (Jalaluddin Hassan) iaitu bos di tempat kerjanya, Darma mengambil cuti selama seminggu untuk menenangkan jiwanya. Peluang itu digunakan oleh Darma untuk berubat di kampong. Di sana, Darma meminta pertolongan ibu saudaranya iaitu Mak Lang (Khatijah Tan). Mak Lang tinggal di kampung bersama anaknya, Lin (Rio Elani) dan ibunya yang juga Opah kepada Darma (Rusminah Sidek) yang sudah nyanyok.

Di kampung, Darma semakin hampir menemui punca kematian Rose tetapi dia dikejutkan dengan satu perkara yang susah untuk diterima oleh akalnya mahu pun Seri. Apakah perkara tersebut dan mampukah Darma keluar dari belenggu yang mengganggu hidupnya setiap hari? Segalanya akan terjawab dalam filem ini. Kepada anda semua, walau apa pun yang terjadi, sesekali pun JANGAN PANDANG BELAKANG kerana apabila yang mati bertemu yang hidup, segala kemungkinan pasti akan berlaku!


interesting.

dari segi lakonan pulak, hampir semua pelakon berjaya menjiwai watak masing2. cuma aku tak dapat rasakan langsung kesedihan Seri yg baru je kehilangan saudara kembar dia. setahu aku kalau kembar, hubungan tu amat rapat hingga ada yg lost the will to live bila salah sorang dari pasangan diaorang meninggal.

lakonan khadijah tan (mak lang) dan rusminah sidek (opah) mmg top! org lama mmg best. bole nampak jurang perbezaan pengalaman org lama ngan org baru.

and ni la filem terbaik Pierre Andre kot bagi aku in terms of permainan emosi dan gaya. dalam filem "cinta" hari tu hampir berjaya, tapi cam ada benda yg kacau konsentrasi dia.

sepanjang cerita ni dipenuhi ngan aura gelap dan mysterious. teknik "sudden scare" digunakan ngan efektif sekali. tho ada beberapa ketika aku rasa cam mudah sangat. but yeah, compare ngan filem2 luar yg aku sebutkan awal tadi, filem ni ada tempatnya dikalangan filem2 tuh.

a wonderful and successful try bagi aku. aku harap ada banyak lagi filem2 seram yg macam ni dihasilkan locally. not glorifying makhluk halus, sepanjang cerita ni ni kita diingatkan kebesaran Tuhan yg Esa. great stuffs!

so dari RM10 yg aku bayar untuk tiket nih, mmg worth every cent. 4.5 over 5 star.

so cepat2 gi tgk citer ni kat panggung. warning: sape yg tak tahan atau ada masalah jantung, berhati2 la tgk citer nih. mmg amaran tu tak tipu langsung. even aku pun beberapa kali meremang bulu roma aku tgk citer nih. hehehe.

baca balik blog aku nih, serious aku cam tak caya yg aku tulis sumer benda nih. hahaha. lawak.

anyway sejak dua tiga hari ni aku dok layan lagu2 lama. circa late 90's punya RnB. zaman2 Bad Boys records "invented the remix". hehehe. zaman2 Mariah Carey menggedik gila2 (album Honey)...

semalam aku ponteng keja. terpaksa. sebab banyak benda nak settle, and lunch hour takkan cukup. takpe la. annual leave aku bersepah. bukan ada nak amik banyak2 pun. bday aku nanti la aku amik 2 hari. mau escape from kl. hehhe.


now, on to some stuffs yg aku rasa menarik perhatian aku. since aku tak der keja nih, aku pun surf la youtube. ni sumer pasal semalam aku tgk shortcuts kat astro. diaorang highlight satu short documentary nih nama "18?" by danny lim. citer dia pasal graffiti2 yg bersepah kat area kl nih. so dia tanya la pendapat org ramai, ahli aktivis, dan org2 art pasal benda nih. cool la.

so kalau korang berminat, tgk la kat sini.

now, yg buat aku tambah minat is the video2 sampingan yg youtube sediakan kat tepi tuh. ada satu nih video candid org bagi rasuah kat polis. aku mengaku aku pernah bagi gak. banyak kali gak la.. kenapa aku bagi? well partly pasal aku rasa kesalahan aku mengarut and not worth aku korbankan cuti aku sehari untuk naik turun court. and partly pasal aku tau diaorang ni gaji kecik. so tak leh kata ape la. kesian.. aku anggap sebagai community service la ngan RM50 aku tuh yg aku bagi diaorang..

well they are from riot squad, what do you expect? but aku bersetuju gak la ngan pendapat salah sorang kat video "18?" tu in regards of freedom of expression. he said that we are a country yg democracy, but sebetulnya kita tak demokrasi sebab kita tak der langsung peluang bersuara. baru piket sket, dah hantar riot squad. suara rakyat langsung tak didengari. asik kena opress sana sini. ape pun aku ada sket respek gak la kat aktivist2 nih.. kuar masuk jel demi memperjuangkan hak bersuara rakyat.

heck, 2 hari lepas, ada citer pasal sorang MP nih condemm youtube pasal ada video Jeremy Clarkson yg kutuk kelisa tuh (it was done 3 years ago). kononnya menjatuhkan imej negara.

i say, "fuck you" to that MP.

first of all, kalau tgk balik video mamat tuh, dia kondem pasal how car manufacturers are coming up with "death beds on wheels" tanpa mengira keselamatan pengguna. jeremy langsung tak sebut pasal kebodohan negara kita dalam video tuh. yg dia kondem, hanya keta, dan manufacturer.

sampai bila kita nak jadi sensitif yg maha over? sampai sedikit teguran pun langsung kita tak bole terima?

teguran, takkan jadi teguran kalau benda yg ditegur tu tak wujud dan tak betul, kan?

sebab tu aku cakap "fuck you" to that MP yg tak der keja lain yg makan duit rakyat bayar elaun dan hanya menghabiskan masa diaorang dalam Dewan Rakyat berbicara pasal benda lapuk.

ape contribution dia ke negara ni ngan timbulkan isu macam tu?

yeah.. i'm not so much of a "negarawan". but the fact IS the fact. and you can't run away with the fact that malaysian cars are just another way of the govt to steal money from your pockets. well kalau tak keta malaysian pun, the import tax yg maha melampau dah cukup untuk buat org sakit jantung..

now, what else is goin on this week? let's see... oh "jangan pandang belakang" is opening tomorrow. gonna be watching that either tomorrow or friday nite. i'm still haven't come up with a decision on this. maybe i'll roll a dice later..

saturday is the hitz fm birthday bash.. i might be goin.. see how la..

then on the 14th my ex-school is organizing a charity ball.. still ironing out the offer to perform for it.. on the same day ada MTG tourney lak kat subang...

and MAYBE there's a video shoot for the sumolah version of VIP... yeah..it's a HUGE MAYBE. but nothing wrong in hoping rite?

then lastly, the Future Sight pre-release on 21st and 22nd... the last set from Time Spiral block.. hope it's gonna be cool that one..
