after months of months of teasing, finally Afdlin Shauki let his new masterpiece out to the masses. tell you guys the truth, i really can't wait to watch the movie. coz i've watched each and every one of Afdlin's movie and seriously, i am really looking forward to SumoLah.
anyway we got VIP invitation to the premiere, simply because 2 of loco's song are in the movie. you guys can follow the link after the movie jump below to find exclusive behind the scenes footage of the recording of the song.

the event was happening to the max. lotsa local celebrities came to show support to Afdlin. i didn't get to take pictures with them, but i shook so many well known ppl's hands! hahah!
at the event loco did perform his first single, Legend Of Boo and after that it's me and him performing the single from the movie, U.V.I.P.
the crowd danced (again!) and clapped to us. it was very overwhelming to me since most of them are celebrities and here i am, a nobody on the stage.
on to the movie.
the movie tells a story about a typical Malay guy, Ramlee(Afdlin). who is a bum, jerk, and whatever stupid labels that you can label a typical Malay with.
yes, i do get the jerk-iness of him early in the movie.
as we move along the movie, it's becoming clear to Ramlee of his purpose and his new found friendship value to Haris (Awie) and Andy (Radhi Khalid) and his employer, Mr Honda (Patrick Teoh).
and there's a hint of love in sense of Siti (Inthira) thru out the movie. she was so hot in the movie and in real life. see for yourself.. :P

so anyway, the movie had a lot of message and it does teach us about how to persevere. "Nokotta" is my new motto of life.
direction wise, i think this is the most serious movie Afdlin had ever directed. the serious perseverance tone, human spirit and a man's journey to self discovery is carefully been laid out through out the movie. hats off to Afdlin and his script writing team.
what impressed me through out the movie was the continuity, and the character development. each character had backstories to them and doesn't look as an empty shell in the story at all. nothing has been put "just to make it beautiful". you can see a little bit of human touch here and there in the movie. marvelous.
again kudos must be given to Inthira for her effort in acting in a Malay movie. tho a few of her lines had trouble with pronounciation, still, she gave her 100%.
Gurmit Singh's Akira is a guy that you'll love to hate. he managed to portray a character who is lost tho he saw what is right and wrong.
in a nutshell, this movie had more story and soul compared to Spider-Man 3. i foresee Afdlin winning more awards because of this movie again.
i give this movie a perfect 5 star. there's no way in categorising this movie straight away. none of other malaysian director's crap are in here. it's very different and it feels international. way to go Afdlin and the gang. the full cinema standing (some) ovation was the answer to that.

so what are you waiting for? go watch this movie tomorrow. and bring your family along. everybody can and should watch this movie. it's a lesson that should not be missed.
i'm off to my work now. have fun..
daa!~

Wow, you make it sound a great movie. Now I feel like watching it.
Haha, I think your post will help generate quite a number of ticket sales.
(Especially for people scared off by silly stuff like Cicak Man)
well i made a promise to some of my close friends that i will pay them back their ticket money if they think the movie is bad.
(no i will not offer you the same deal.. :P)
but yeah, this by far the most different Malay movie i've ever watched.
i'll be great if i can pull in some crowd. Afdlin deserves it..
Hey man, another thing. Do you know what bugs me about local rap acts?
They *all* have the same stage presence - which is to say, just walk around with the hand-cutting motion. Everyone does that. It's so painful watching that, especially on RTM when some rappers or other perform.
I think good rappers OWN the stage and the audience man. They should up the intensity 2 notches, show more energy in the movements, and most importantly rap *to* the audience, make them feel there's a connection and flow your energy to them. Local rappers make very little eye contact with the audience and sometimes appear self-conscious.
Your rap was not too bad though, like the rhymes.
WTF, I'm not getting the same deal? That's moose kaka, man! :)
I seriously would love to man.. u know jump around and scream.
but the ceiling was just 3 inches on top of my head, and the sound system is already blasted to that max (for that small area)..
tell u what, the next time i'll have a performance (in open air), do come and see for yourself.
tho i must say that i agree that most hip hoppers nowadays can't really OWN the crowd.
